The Vouch System for
Solar Installer Crews
After Permission-to-Operate

A $40K solar install + 90 days of waiting for PTO is a recipe for review amnesia — VouchCrew triggers the second the system turns on, not the day it was bolted to the roof.

01 · The problem

Why solar installers lose reviews they earned.

The work is done. The customer is happy. And yet the review never comes — because somebody had to remember to ask, and somebody never does.

01

PTO delay kills review timing

By the time the utility flips the switch, the install crew is a distant memory.

02

National installers dominate ranks

Sunrun and SunPower have 50K+ reviews. You're a local pro with 80.

03

Homeowners forget which crew installed

You sold them. A different crew built it. They have no one to thank.

02 · Built for solar installers

The way your trade actually works.

Solar customers are the most research-driven of any trade. By the time they call you, they've read forums, compared three installers, watched YouTube install videos, and read every Google review on every nearby installer twice. Reviews are not a tiebreaker for solar — they're the entire decision. Specifically: review recency, total review count, and the detail level of recent reviews. A 4.9★ installer with 80 reviews loses to a 4.8★ with 180 reviews, every time, because the customer believes more data means lower risk. VouchCrew exists to drive that volume. Every install fires a multi-stage SMS sequence: review request the day after PTO (Permission To Operate), follow-up at 30 days asking about energy production results, and a 12-month "anniversary" SMS asking for an update. Average reviews per install on VouchCrew solar accounts: 2.1 over 18 months.

Built for these jobs.

Recurring touchpoint that builds review depth over the system lifetime.

Roof + solar combo

Joint work with roofers. Cross-attribution: the review names both crews if you partner.

Real-world scenarios.

01

14-panel residential install, PTO came through.

Reagan's crew did the install in one day — racking, panels, inverter, conduit run to the main. PTO from the utility came through 11 days later. SMS fires that morning: "Your system is live. Mind taking 20 seconds to vouch for Reagan?" Review goes up with two photos: the panels and the production dashboard reading "+18 kWh today." That production number is the closer for the next prospect.

02

Tesla Powerwall + solar retrofit.

You add 2 Powerwalls to an existing 12kW system. Tied into the Tesla app, configured for self-consumption + storm watch. Customer rides out the next thunderstorm without flickering — first time in years. SMS fires after the first storm test. Review specifically names the Powerwall, storm-watch behavior, and Reagan's walkthrough quality.

03

EV + solar new construction.

Customer is building a new house. You install solar + battery + EV charger together. Closes house warranty + solar app + charging app in one day. SMS fires at PTO + final inspection. Review references the "one-stop" experience — a phrase that books your next two new-construction customers.

03 · The compounding loop

Reviews are local SEO.
Local SEO is the funnel.

06 · How we’re different

Generic review tools vs. VouchCrew for solar installers.

Podium, Birdeye, and NiceJob are broad-market tools. They send the same SMS to a dentist, a barber, and a roofer. VouchCrew is built one trade at a time.

01

PTO-day trigger, not install-day

Generic tools fire at install completion — but solar isn't complete until PTO. VouchCrew's PTO-day default lifts review completion to 79% vs. 41% for install-day triggers.

02

Multi-phase review sequence

Solar has a long arc: design, install, PTO, first-month-production, 12-month anniversary. VouchCrew prompts at the right moments — driving 2.1 reviews per install over 18 months, vs. 0.4 industry baseline.

03

Brand-tagged reviews (Tesla, Enphase, SunPower)

Customers searching "Tesla Powerwall installer near me" filter results by recent Powerwall-tagged reviews. VouchCrew tags every review with the brands installed.

07 · Questions, answered

Everything solar installers ask before they switch.

Can it integrate with Enphase / SolarEdge monitoring?
Yes — we can fire on first-production events pulled from Enphase Enlighten or SolarEdge's API.
What about D2D sales rep attribution?
Sales reps and install crews have separate leaderboards. Each gets credit for what they did.
How does it handle financing-related complaints?
Finance issues (loan terms, Sunlight Financial gripes) route privately — those aren't install-quality complaints and shouldn't hit your Google profile.
When should the review SMS fire — at install, at PTO, or at first month's production?
PTO. We've tested all three. Install day has too much excitement and not enough validation (system isn't live yet). First-month-production is too late (customer has normalized). PTO is the gratitude peak — system finally producing, paperwork done, real bills coming in lower. Day-after-PTO has a 79% completion rate.
Can VouchCrew handle the long sales cycle and multi-phase install in solar?
Yes. You can configure separate trigger points: design-approved, install-complete, PTO-received, anniversary. The customer can leave reviews at each phase, but the leaderboard credits the relevant crew for each (sales rep on design approval, install foreman on install-complete, etc.).
Does VouchCrew track production warranty and equipment claims separately?
Production warranties and equipment claims (Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla, panel manufacturer) are tracked in your dashboard for partner reporting. The customer-facing review SMS doesn't ask about warranties — it asks about Reagan and the install. Warranty events are separately flagged for your records.
How does this compare to GuildQuality or Energysage for solar installers?
GuildQuality is a survey platform; their reviews don't feed Google. Energysage is a lead-gen marketplace; their reviews live on their platform, not yours. VouchCrew puts reviews on your own Google Business Profile — which is what new prospects searching "solar installer [city]" actually see. The volume of Google reviews is the only signal that meaningfully moves your local pack ranking.
